Meet Me in St Louis Baby!

Well it started to rain last night and this morning it's a bit wet outside, but the rain has stopped.  We are having our breakfast in the old Pasfield House here in Springfield before hitting the road again.  Today we follow America's Main Street right into St Louis, MO!

Could not get on-line last night, but would have reported on our day in Springfield, IL.  Visited the Lincoln Museum and Library - quite a treat.  If you ever get to Springfield, it is a must see.  Also visited Lincoln's tomb, just on the edge of town.

Here are a few pictures:

This first one was taken outside the Lincoln Museum and Library.

Below you see the group in front of Charlie Parker's, a restaurant inside a Quanson Hut building with it's main attraction a sandwich called "The Horseshoe."

Check out the Horseshoe, below.  Looks like a coronary in waiting, does it not?  Actually tasted pretty good.  It's built up from the plate with bread, meat and cheese and topped with potatoes.  I had Walleye, Chief had Pork steak and Kathleen had a chicken Horseshoe (she got a "Pony" - smaller version).  The only smart one among us was Tere' who ordered the chicken salad sandwich.
Note the $10.00 Coupon which the innkeeper at the Pasfield house gave us - our whole lunch was $8.00 after coupon.

And finally for this post, here is a shot of Lincoln's Tomb.  Very impressive!

Well, though I have a few hundred more pictures, these will have to do for now.  Time to pack up and head out.  Tonight we'll be having dinner with my college roommate, Charlie and his wife Muffy who live in St Louis.  Should be a great time!
